§ 01 The premise

If your web presence is "I should have a homepage" — academic, writer, consultant, founder — you've been mispriced. Lovable charges $25/month + custom-domain fees. Wix is overcomplicated. Substack is the wrong shape. Squarespace is just another subscription.

The thing you actually need is a tasteful page that renders fast, looks deliberate, and stays out of your way. Hosting and AI inference both got cheap. You should pay when you're working on it, and pay nothing the rest of the time.

    Talk to it.

    "Add publications." "Tighten the bio." "Make it brutalist — black on red." "Drop in a gallery, here are the photos." The assistant asks if it's not sure. It only changes what you ask. Every edit is snapshotted; rolling back is one click.

    Bring your domain.

    Once you've paid the setup, point your domain at us, get an automatic TLS cert, your site lives there. No re-platforming when you're ready to be official. Take the static files with you the day we annoy you.

Web hosting and AI inference both got cheap. Subscription pricing in this category hasn't caught up. We pass the savings along: open-source stack, a single small server, no SaaS dependencies, no tracking on your visitors, no third-party fonts unless you ask. Your domain points at our box. The day we annoy you, you take the static files with you.

Named after Kwaku Ananse — the Akan trickster spider, weaver of webs, keeper of stories. Spider, as in web. Trickster, as in do more with less.
